Communities of Practice: Pandemic preparedness – navigating the PA23 light touch regime from market engagement to contract delivery

About this event

Join the Government Commercial Function on Thursday 19th November at 10:00am for the next Public Procurement Communities of Practice Session on Pandemic Preparedness: Navigating the PA23 Light Touch Regime from Market Engagement to Contract Delivery.

This session provides a practical overview of how UKHSA has approached commercial delivery of pandemic preparedness capability, using the Surge Laboratory procurement as a case study.

The session will include:

  • outlining UKHSA’s role in national preparedness and the importance of maintaining capabilities that can be activated rapidly during future health emergencies
  • the procurement journey from market engagement through to contract award, including application of the Light Touch Regime, development of a readiness-based commercial model, supply chain assurance, contract management planning and lessons learned.
  • practical insight into procuring capabilities that must be maintained in a state of readiness for long periods and activated rapidly when required, whilst balancing value for money, resilience and national preparedness objectives
  • exploring the value of effective pre-market engagement in shaping procurement strategies, testing market capacity and capability, and ensuring suppliers have sufficient time to prepare for future opportunities

Public sector professionals can book their place on one of the sessions by registering via the Eventbrite link found on the Public Procurement Communities of Practice events page on the Government Commercial College.
